URGENT #MISSING: Mary Helen Duran, 79 - Mesquite, TEXAS (BELIEVED TO HAVE ALZHEIMER'S - driving a silver 2009 Honda Accord with plate KTC879)

Updated at 3:48 p.m.: Mesquite police said a Silver Alert issued Monday morning was sent out by mistake, but they are still looking for the elderly woman reported missing.

Mary Helen Duran, 79, is believed to have Alzheimer’s disease. She was last seen Sunday morning driving a silver Honda Accord. She is believed to be driving east, said Mesquite police spokesman Sgt. Brian Parrish.

Police alerted the Texas Department of Public Safety that Duran was missing but did not request the Silver Alert be issued when the notification was released. After realizing the mistake, the state canceled the alert even though Duran was still missing, Parrish said.

Updated at 2:01 p.m.: The silver alert for an elderly Mesquite woman reported missing Sunday has been canceled.

Original post at 11:46 a.m.: Mesquite police are asking for help locating an elderly woman diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease who was last seen Sunday morning.

Mary Helen Duran, 79, is described as 5-3, 155 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black shirt and black pants, police said.

She was last seen at 10 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Willowbrook Drive driving a silver 2009 Honda Accord with the license plate KTC879.

Anyone with information about Duran’s whereabouts is asked to call Mesquite police at 972-216-6759.
