Robeson County authorities are searching for the daughter of a local sheriff's deputy after she didn't show up to work Wednesday morning and her car was found abandoned.
Authorities say Sara Nicole Graham, 18, left for her home on Centerville Church Road in Fairmont around 6:30 a.m. and never arrived for her job at Walmart in Pembroke.
Her car was found around 12:15 p.m. the same day in a wheat field on East McDonald Road between Centerville Church Road and Chicken Road – approximately 5 miles from her home.
"There were no signs of struggle," Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said Friday. "The vehicle looked like it was just pulled up there and parked, and the vehicle was locked when we arrived."
Sealey said that his office is intensifying its search for Graham.
About 50 officers from various law enforcement agencies, including Fayetteville police and the FBI, searched by ground Friday while the North Carolina State Highway Patrol used a helicopter to search a nearby wooded area.
Graham is Native American, stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. She has dark brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue Walmart vest. She wears glasses and has braces.
Anyone with information about Graham's whereabouts is asked to contact the Robeson County Sheriff's Office at 910-671-3170.
Graham's father, Hubert Graham, has been employed as a deputy for 16 years.
"He's upset, as a father would be," Sealey said.
Sara Graham, who is originally from Texas, has been living with her father and stepmother since September. Sealey said detectives have no reason to believe she would just run away.
"There's been no trouble with her dad or stepmother. Everything was going good," he said. "It's not like her to be doing – very unlikely for her to do this."
