Despite a lack of "fresh leads," Havre de Grace Police are still searching for Catherine Elizabeth Mace, a city resident who has been missing for six weeks, a police department spokesperson said Wednesday.
Mace, 43, was last seen at her home in the 900 block of Greenway Court around 2 a.m. on Dec. 26, 2014.
"They're just trying to use any lead they might have, but we don't have much to go on right now," Pfc. Jeff Gilpin said of city police detectives.
Havre de Grace officers, with support from local fire companies, citizen volunteers, search dogs, Maryland Natural Resources Police personnel and Maryland State Police and Harford County Sheriff's Office helicopters, spent that weekend searching for Mace.Gilpin said family members noticed Mace was missing as of 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, and reported her disappearance to the police about four hours later.
"I don't think there's one stone left unturned in Havre de Grace," Gilpin said.
Detectives followed up on a suspected sighting in Bel Air, but the lead turned out to be "untrue," he said.
Investigators are searching Mace's phone records during the weeks leading to her disappearance for clues about her prior activities. Gilpin noted she did not take her mobile phone with her.
He said there was no evidence that there was any struggle or foul play involved.
"Right now, all indications are, she left on her own free will," Gilpin said. "Where she could have gone, we're not sure."
He said searchers initially concentrated on areas near her neighborhood where she liked to walk, such as the Havre de Grace Community Center and the vicinity of the Vulcan Materials Company quarry on the north side of the city.
"We had tons of people out there trying to help out, but unfortunately nothing turned up," Gilpin lamented.
Mace is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has long blonde hair and tattoos on both arms. She was last seen wearing a black jacket and tan hiking boots. Anyone who has information is asked to call Havre de Grace Police at 410-939-2121.
