A missing man's dinghy was found Monday morning near Marble Island, police said.
The search for missing boater Brian Webb continued Monday, with divers combing Lake Champlain starting at 7 a.m., Colchester Police Department Lt. Douglas Allen.
The search area was extended after Webb's dinghy was found along the east side of Marble Island, Allen said.
Webb's sailboat was found unoccupied on Mallets Bay Sunday morning with the 8-foot dinghy missing, as previously reported in the Burlington Free Press.
Allen's department was meeting with Vermont State Police and side-scanning sonar equipment belonging to New York State Police is being brought to the area to help in continuing efforts, he said. Sonar searches were conducted Sunday, as well.
Webb's wife reported the man missing Sunday morning. The 65-year-old had spent the night in his sailboat, the Hellen Louise, Saturday night, according to the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard said Monday the department was not involved in Monday's search.
Search crews are continuing to check high probability areas to try and locate Webb, according to Allen.
