Authorities are looking for an 11-year-old boy who went out on a walk with his dog Mesa Saturday morning, but has not returned.
Mesa Police Lt. Ed Wessing says the boy who goes by "CJ" took his dog out for a walk around 10 a.m. around the canal near Power and Ray roads.
The dog was found swimming in the canal, said Wessing, however, the boy has not been located.
CJ has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome, according to police.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office dive team is assisting in the search around the canal.
Any one who knows of CJ's whereabouts is asked to call the Mesa Police Department.
