#MISSING: Christopher Smithburg, 16 - Nolensville, TENNESSEE

Christopher Smithburg's mother, Susan Smithburg, says she wants to thank everyone for their help and support in the effort to find her missing 16-year-old son. For a third day, search crews set out to survey the land surrounding the family's home.

"We start at the home and fan out from there," says Williamson County Sheriff's Office public information officer Sharon Puckett. "That's the way we've operated the past two and a half days," she added.

The Nolensville teen went missing Thursday morning from his parent's home on Rocky Fork Road, where he is homeschooled. His parents say he was doing chores when he disappeared.

Police put out a flyer over the weekend as a way for residents in the area to help.

"We're asking property owners in the area of Rocky Fork Road and Rocky Springs Road, if they have property in that area, and they have what we call wildlife trail cameras, would they please check their cameras for images of Christopher or information that may help us find him?" Puckett requested.

More than 100 people helped in the search efforts Saturday. Teams from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Nolensville Fire Department, Brentwood Fire Department, Williamson County Emergency Management Agency and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency all pitched in.

Wind and rain have made conditions difficult. Thursday night, K-9's had to stop because of the rain, deputies said. So far, authorities have not allowed community volunteers to join in the search efforts. "We need to use the trained personnel for that because we want to preserve that area," Puckett said. "We want to protect that area that we're searching, so we have not done a mass search at this point."

If you have any information on Christopher Smithburg's whereabouts, you are urged to call the Williamson County Sheriff's Office at 615-790-5550. Search efforts will pick back up early Sunday morning.
