Search and rescue teams have been looking for a man near Peak View Drive since Saturday evening.
John Chelsey, 81, was last seen at about 1 p.m. Saturday at his home on Peak View Drive wearing a blue flannel shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He may have also been wearing a white hat.
Butte County Search and Rescue began looking for Chelsey around 7 p.m. and continued the search until about 3:30 a.m. before getting some rest in order to continue the search today, said Lt. Kevin Lucero, public information officer with the organization.
"We've been hitting it pretty hard today," Lucero said.
Two K-9 teams have been deployed in the search which has begun expanding.
Chelsey has no trouble walking, but he is hard of hearing and has a history of dementia, Lucero said.
Rescuers are asking people in the area to check out-buildings and crawl spaces on their property and to be on the lookout for Chelsey, who is about 5'8" tall and weighs about 135 to 140 pounds.
