The body of what appears to be 82-year-old Billy Joe Garrett has been located in Greenville County, according to authorities.
Officials with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office say the body was found at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Ballard Road and Princeton Highway near the Saluda River. The body was found by a family member, officials said.
According to a release from Greenville County Coroner B. Parks Evans, an autopsy is scheduled for Monday. The Greenville County Coroner's Office is working with the Laurens County Coroner's Office and the Laurens County Sheriff's Office to positively identify the body. It appears the man died in the last week of January, the release said.
Garrett was last seen near his Honea Path farm on Jan. 28. He was reported missing by his family. An aerial search for Garrett began last Thursday.
