An Oregon man has been missing since celebrating his birthday with a cousin nearly two weeks ago and his family fears the worst.
Adrien Chase, 35, spent a day with a friend and came home to share a piece of birthday cake with his cousin before going to bed on Dec. 5, his mother told the Daily News.
"That was the last time he was seen," his mother, Joellen Kuhl, said.
Chase sent a final text message to his girlfriend back in his hometown of Rochester, New York, saying he had a great day and that he made reservations at a bed and breakfast for her to stay during her planned visit next month.
But then he stepped out of the house and never returned.
Kuhl said her son left his cell phone behind and never brought a coat.
"To me, it seems he didn't plan on being gone for very long," she said.

Chase may have left the home to go to Atkinson Park, where he liked to look at the stars before bed, when he disappeared.

Kuhl said her family believes Chase, who is bipolar, may have wandered off to nearby Atkinson Park, where he often visited to gaze at the stars before he went to bed.
She said the 5-foot-7, 150-pound Chase may have fallen down a steep cliff at the park during his hike. But no one has been able to get to the bottom of the cliff to search for Chase.
"We really need someone to go there who has skill," Kuhl said.

The mother of Adrien Chase believes the 35-year-old may have wandered off to a nearby park to look at the stars and possibly fell from a steep cliff.

Kuhl said Chase has never gone missing before and was regularly taking his medications before he disappeared.
"This is totally uncharacteristic of him," she said.
Kuhl said police have recieved reports that Chase has been spotted around the town, but none of the leads panned out.
The Oregon City Police Department urged anyone with information to call their tip line at (503) 496-1616.
