Located Safely: Jeremy Williams, 36 - Washtenaw County, MI

A 36-year-old Ypsilanti man who was reported missingsince he walked out of his group home Thursday was located Friday night in Canton Township and is safe.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office sent out a missing person alert for the man, Jeremy Williams, along with a photo and description.

Derrick Jackson, sheriff's office director of community engagement, said the Canton Township Police Department was able to locate Williams after the missing person report was sent out.

Williams walked away from his group home at about 8 a.m. Thursday near Michigan Avenue and Harris Road in Ypsilanti Township, according to the missing person statement from the sheriff's office.

Several concerns for Williams were expressed in the alert, including that he suffers from developmental disabilities and it was believed unlikely he could find his way back home on his own. He also didn't have a cell phone, money or other resources with him.

Someone familiar with Williams had told authorities he believes he saw Williams earlier Friday in the area of Michigan Avenue near Beck Road in Canton Township.

Comments posted on the Nixle alert also indicated Williams was successfully found. One comment praised email and Facebook alerts for working to help locate him.
