Famed singer Al Green's sister is missing in Grand Rapids.
Maxine Green, 61, was last seen on Aug. 23 on Leonard Street NW, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
She has some mental health issues and had been living at the Shepherds of Independence home on the northwest side of Grand Rapids.
Her family has not heard from her, but has been handing out flyers and searching. One flyer asks for prayers and urges anyone with information to call police.
"Maxine is the sweetest person that you could ever meet," Green's niece Pam Green said. "She means a lot to me. ... I just want her back home."
Grand Rapids police were told Green has gone missing in the past, usually for a period of days or perhaps a week, but never for this long.
Anyone with information is asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
Al Green is a soul singer who was raised in Grand Rapids and was particularly successful in the 1970s.
