MISSING CHILD: Makayla Lady, 8 - Anchorage, ALASKA
Alaska State Troopers are looking for an 8-year-old girl who was last seen at her North Pole home late Thursday night.
According to an AST dispatch Friday afternoon, Fairbanks troopers were informed that Makayla Lady was missing from her home, near the intersection of Marigold and Badger roads, at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday.
“Since receiving the missing child report, Troopers were notified of at least two possible sightings of (Lady),” troopers wrote. “It was reported that she was wearing a brown sweater and carrying a pink purse while walking alone in the area of Badger Road (early Friday).”
In addition to troopers from the Fairbanks post, an Alaska Wildlife Troopers in an AST helicopter is flying over the neighborhood and two Fairbanks-based members of the Alaska Bureau of Investigation are in the area.
“(Residents) are asked to search their property and out buildings for Makayla,” troopers wrote.
According to AST spokesperson Megan Peters, while troopers believe Lady walked away from her home, searchers want to be sure she's returned home safely.
"We think the child left home on her own accord, but we're not sure why or what happened," Peters said.
Lady stands 4 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds. She has blond hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on Lady’s whereabouts should call AST in Fairbanks at 907-451-5100, or the Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s Missing Persons Clearinghouse at 1-800-478-9333 or 907-269-5497. Callers are asked to reference incident number AK13052496.
