A Carroll County Sheriff's deputy found a woman's body in Grayson County, Sheriff Richard Vaughan confirmed to WSLS Thursday morning.

Vaughan, the Sheriff of Grayson County, said he thought the body had been there for about six weeks.  He declined to give the exact location of where the remains were recovered, saying only that it was in the eastern part of the county.

Vaughan said a neighbor found Desia Rae George's cell phone, which kicked off a search of the area where the phone was recovered.

George has been missing since April.

Authorities said earlier this month they wanted to talk to her boyfriend, Matthew Jones, currently in jail on charges related to a North Carolina bank robbery, about George's disappearance but Jones refused to talk to them.

Vaughan hoped the state medical examiner's office could identify the remains soon.
