The Washington County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a missing 22-year-old man who has Asperger's syndrome.
Jorge Villa, 22, of Aloha, was last seen by his family members at 8 a.m. Thursday, said Sgt. Vance Stimler, a sheriff's office spokesman. A deputy responded to his home, in the 17000 block of Washington Drive, about 8:45 p.m.
Family members told the deputy that Villa has a mental capacity equivalent to a 10-year-old, Stimler said. He uses public transportation on his own, and on Thursday, he left about 8 a.m. to go shopping. Typically, he returns by 2 p.m. and makes several calls from his cellphone while out.
Villa reportedly did not call during the day. The family told the deputy Villa has never not returned home and they are worried about him.
Villa has not been able to be reached on his cellphone, Stimler said.
Deputies searched around his home and the Tanasbourne shopping area. Authorities also contacted TriMet, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Villa has been entered into the Law Enforcement Data System as a missing person. Deputies are working to find him. He was last seen wearing khaki shorts, blue Converse shoes and a white hooded sweatshirt, with an unknown university logo on the left shoulder. He also had a dark-colored backpack and large, blue Trader Joe's shopping bag.
Villa is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds, Stimler said. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 503-629-0111.
