Earthly body located; Jeffrey Maruska, 51 - Merrill, WISCONSIN

A Lincoln County Sheriff's Detective and Coroner Paul Proulx accompanied the body of Jeffrey Maruska to Madison for autopsy on Friday, Dec. 26. Maruska, 51, who had been missing since late October, was found near his Rock Falls home on Dec. 20. The autopsy was performed Friday at the University of Wisconsin Department of Pathology. According to Coroner Proulx, preliminary results indicate that Maruska died of hypothermia. No sign of foul play was found. A final report will be issued at a later date. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of cadaver dogs from the K-9 Emergency Response Teams, Inc., discovered Maruska's remains Dec. 20 in a wooded area east of his residence. Maruska, 51, was reported missing on Nov. 3, when a family member called the sheriff's office saying they had not seen or heard from him since Oct. 27. Jeffrey worked at Badger Evergreen and had not showed up to work since Oct. 27.
