►Most Memorable Located Safe in 2012:

A husband and father went missing in early 2012. He was missing 5 days when his family contacted LostNMissing and registered. His family explained that the police were not providing any support whatsoever due to him leaving on his own "free will." They took a missing persons report but told the family they did not have resources to go out and "look for him." The wife stated his cell was turned off as it would go right into voicemail and that was not like her husband. He loved to talk on the phone. Police refused to ping his cell and told family it would take a court order and could take days.

After talking at length with his wife, we felt he may possibly be considered at-risk as he had bouts of depression recently and suddenly stopped his medication a few days before he went missing.  I decided to speak directly with his doctor to see if I can have him convey the importance to the police, on behalf of the wife, for them to ping his cell.

After speaking with his doctor he agreed to phone the police detective. Due to that intervention, the police obtained an order to do a cell phone ping and our missing husband/father  was located in the woods with his vehicle and was contemplating suicide by carbon monoxide when the officers drove up. He agreed to go into the hospital for psychiatric and medication evaluations. A follow up with his wife, 6 months later, and he is doing well on his medication.

►Stats to be carried into 2013
