The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office is looking at a possible connection between a missing 16–year-old girl from Santee and her brother-in-law, who disappeared Monday night.
Nimi Patel was reported missing from school in Summerton Tuesday.
26-year-old Sanjeev Verma was reported missing Monday night from Orangeburg.
Clarendon County Sheriff Garrett is working with the Orangeburg County Sheriff to track them down. Right now they have no indication that the two are still in Clarendon or Orangeburg County.
Sheriff Garett said they do not suspect foul play.
Sheriff Randy Garrett said that Patel was reported missing by her mother and sister at 4:00 p.m. when she was not at school when they went to pick her up.
Nami was last seen at 8:15 a.m. when being dropped off for school at Clarendon Hall, which is located at 1140 South Dukes Street.
Investigators have determined that after arriving at school, she walked her cousin inside and then left the school grounds.
Nami Patel is 5'3" and weighs 100 pounds. She was last seen wearing a yellow V-neck shirt with white dots, Blue jeans, white Nike shoes, and a black jacket.
She was also carrying a white Coach bag.
Clarendon County is working with other agencies to determine Patel's location. Authorities have not said if they believe Patel is in danger.
Orangeburg Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Verma was reported missing by his wife just after 10 p.m. Monday.
"At this point, we cannot rule out anything. Sanjeev is a husband and father. We want to be able to locate him and ease the minds of his family members that he is safe," said Ravenell.
Verma's vehicle was located Tuesday morning in Elloree.
