Huntersville police are looking for a 26-year-old woman who was house-sitting for a family in the Birkdale area but has been missing since Saturday.

Kristen Woodrow was caring for a pet poodle and watching the house on Devonshire Drive. Huntersville police say she and the dog are missing, and that Woodrow left her cell phone, a laptop computer and her overnight bag behind.

The back door of the house was unlocked, and police said there was no sign of a forced entry.

Family members told NewsChannel 36, the Observer’s news partner, they think Woodrow might have run out on a quick errand with the dog. She moved from Florida recently to North Carolina, and family members think she might have gotten lost.

Scott Woodrow, Kristen’s father, said he last talked to her on the phone about 12:30 p.m. Saturday. She had arrived at the house a short time earlier, when the family left for vacation.

Family members said that when they were unable to reach her later Saturday, they called Huntersville police. They told reporters that Woodrow, a nursing student, had a busy schedule of activities this week.

“We’ve been driving around, trying to find the car, and we put together some fliers and started distributing the fliers,” Scott Woodrow said.

She is described as a white female, 5 feet 3 and 100 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. The last time she was seen, she was wearing blue jeans, a plaid top, flip-flops, and a white watch.

Her vehicle is a silver 2005 Jeep Cherokee with Florida license tags 647-WHF.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Huntersville police, at 704-464-5400.
