Authorities on Thursday asked for the public's help to find a missing borough man who they said has a mental illness and has not been seen in more than a week.
John Tonincelli was described as 6-foot-2 and weighs 250 pounds, police said. He wears glasses and often walks around the western end of the borough and nearby areas of New Milford.
Tonincelli, 46, has emotional disorder and may run away from people he isn't familiar with, according to police. The department asked anyone who spots Tonincelli not to approach him and call authorities.
Tonincelli was reported missing last Thursday by his mother when he didn't arrive for Thanksgiving dinner at Woodcrest Health Care Center on River Road in New Milford, The Record reported. He was last seen Nov. 25 around 4:30 p.m. on Atlantic Street in Hackensack.
Police said Tonincelli does not drive or take public transportation. He was last seen wearing a black knit hat, a dark-colored hooded jacket, a red flannel shirt with khaki pants and black suspenders.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts was asked to borough police at 201-387-5000.
