Authorities are searching for a 64-year-old man who was last seen four days ago.
Douglas Jefferies of Chico was reported missing to the Chico Police Department on Sunday by a friend who stated it was unusual for Jefferies to leave the area without telling others, according to a Chico police press release. The missing man is also said to spend most of his time at his home.
Jefferies' family members, who were contacted by detectives, are also unaware of his whereabouts.
Jefferies, who was last seen at about 7 a.m. Saturday, is 5-foot-7 and about 130 pounds. He has a thick gray beard and a scar on his head.
According to police, Jefferies is known to frequent Lake Almanor and he may have driven there in his dark blue Ford truck with license plate No. 6C79754. The truck is also missing.
Family and friends are concerned for Jefferies, who is in poor health and may not have access to money.
A travel trailer Jefferies is known to take to Lake Almanor remains in Chico and his truck was flagged in a national missing persons database but has not been found, according to Chico police.
Jefferies' truck has a silver tool box and an Army 101st Airborne sticker in the rear window or bumper.
Because of the circumstances, Jefferies is considered an at-risk missing adult, according to the Chico Police Department.
Anyone with information about Jefferies' whereabouts is asked to contact Chico police 897-4900.
