It's been one week since Coast Guard radio operator Christopher Montgomery was reported missing from his base in Fort Wadsworth, and authorities continue their search for him.
The Coast Guard and NYPD are conducting a joint investigation into Montgomery's disappearance, and at this time, it is being treated as a missing person case, with no evidence that the 26-year-old Long Island resident is a victim of foul place, according to Coast Guard spokesman Charles W. Rowe.
Montgomery was reported missing after he failed to show up for an appointment last Thursday at the health clinic at the U.S. Coast Guard Sector New York station in Fort Wadsworth, police said.
The Fort Wadsworth base was his regular duty station.
His parents told LongIsland.News12.com that they last spoke to him Wednesday, Sept. 24, the night before he went missing.
He has recently finished a two-week leave at his parent's home in Manorville, L.I., according to a report by WCBS.
His parents and superior officers said his disappearance is completely out of character, that report said.
Relatives have been circulating his photo on Twitter asking for help locating him.
Montgomery has served in the Coast Guard for seven years, according to Rowe, and was scheduled to complete service in April.
He has blue eyes and black hair, stands 5-feet-9 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing shorts, flip flops, and a hoodie, police said.
