A Middletown family has some closure now after a loved one disappeared one year ago.
Connecticut State Police have identified the remains that were found near an entry ramp to I-95 earlier this month as 65-year-old David Godwin Sr. of Middletown who went missing last year.
Police have determined the death to be suspicious and dental records were used to help identify Godwin who was last seen on Oct. 13, 2013 at the passport in Middletown and had taken a train from the shoreline to New York.
State police said a cause of death will be determined after further investigation by the Chief State Medical Examiner's Office.
The decomposed body was found by a Department of Transportation crew in the woods near the northbound entry ramp of I-95 in New London on Oct. 10.
Goodwin Sr. is the father of a Middletown police sergeant however the department is not commenting on the case at this time.
He was a retired anesthesiologist technician working his career at Middlesex Hospital and the initial missing persons report was released on Oct. 18, 2013.
The case remains under investigation.
