#MISSING STUDENT: Anna M. Smith, 18 - Boone, NORTH CAROLINA (Appalachian State University student)

Campus police are searching for a missing Appalachian State University student.

Anna M. Smith, 18, of High Point, was last seen in her dorm room around noon on Tuesday.

Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson for App St. a preliminary investigation revealed Smith disappearance is voluntary. Around 10:26 p.m. some reported seeing her get on a university van that provides transportation around campus.

She was also seen on Wednesday, September 3, near her residence hall.

Smith is 5-foot-9, slender, has short red hair, blue eyes, nose piercings, a black and white sunflower tattoo on her upper right chest near her collar bone and Latin lettering over her lower left ribs.

University Police say it's not known what she was last wearing before her disappearance. Investigators said they would still like to talk to Smith and they're still asking the public for information that could help locate her.
