Police in north suburban Skokie are asking for the public's help in locating an elderly man who has been missing since Thursday morning and may be in Chicago.
The family of Bhim S. Chanana, 79, contacted authorities just after 9 p.m. Thursday to report him missing, according to a statement from Skokie police.
A family member had dropped him off at the Republic Bank near Devon and Rockwell at 11:30 a.m. and he has not been heard from since, police said.
Chanana is described as a 5-foot-4, 180-pound Asian man with white hair and brown eyes, police said. He wears glasses, has hearing aids in both ears and was last seen wearing a gray Northface hooded sweatshirt, black pants and brown shoes, police said.
He also has diabetes, high blood pressure and a heart condition, police said.
Chanana owns property in the 2100 block of West Rosemont and has been known to frequent businesses near Lawrence and Western, police said. He does not drive and typically travels using public transportation.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Skokie police at (847) 982-5900.
