#MISSING: Adelle Burns 14 - Leon County, FLORIDA (Reward offered - left note explaining she would be with friends in Mississippi)

Adelle Burns went to bed with her younger sister at their Katherine Speed Court home Aug. 26.

Her mother Glenna Phillips had her lunch packed for a day at Cobb Middle School but was awoken early that morning to find the 14-year-old gone with a note explaining she would be with friends in Mississippi.

A month later, her family has yet to hear from her and she is considered a runaway by law enforcement.

"We just want her home," Phillips said. "We want her home and we hope she is safe wherever she's at."

Brightly colored signs with Burns' photo are displayed across Tallahassee along with billboards donated by Lamar Advertising and a mobile billboard getting the word out about the missing teen.

The family has gathered the money for a $1,000 reward for information leading to her return.

"We've taken a lot of it into our own hands," Phillips said, adding that after 30 days and little in the way of finding her daughter, she feels Burns should be considered endangered. "Somebody is helping her. A 14-year-old cannot run away and survive on her own without money or anything. There's so many ifs in this situation."

The Leon County Sheriff's Office is still actively investigating and does not consider Burns to be at risk at this time, according to LCSO spokesman James McQuaig.

But even after weeks of investigative work across multiple states, "regardless of what her status is, this is a 14-year-old girl that's unaccounted for and that's a huge problem for us," he said. "There's a great concern for this child's safety."

McQuaig said LCSO has served search warrants, court orders and subpoenas among friends, family members and the community as well as lie detector tests and forensic analysis of multiple electronic devices, both in Florida and out of state, including Mississippi.

"It's a massive network of leads (law enforcement) follow to find these people," he said.

McQuaig said outside of normal protocol in cases where no foul play is suspected, Burns was listed as missing three days after it was reported.

Phillips said the community effort — people are posting photos of the signs on social media and reaching out to the family to assist – has been astounding.

"The community has been great," Phillips said. "It's nice to see strangers that don't know her coming together and posting signs on social media. This is amazing how the community is concerned about finding Adelle."

Adelle Burns was last seen in the 3200 block of Katherine Speed Court Aug. 26. She is described as 5-foot-3 with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing shorts and a T-shirt, but the style and color are unknown.
