BOONE, N.C. – Police in Boone have confirmed that the body found in a wooded area Saturday morning is that of missing Appalachian State University student Anna Smith.
The body of the 18-year-old from High Point was found Saturday morning in a wooded area off of Poplar Grove Road, according to police.
Police said Smith's student ID and driver's license were found at the scene.
"Initial evidence indicates the deceased person found today is Anna Marie Smith," police said in a tweet.
