A Nantucket woman is asking for the public's assistance in finding her granddaughter. Betty Gulley's 15-year-old granddaughter Michaela was last seen in Yarmouth on August 7. Michaela and another girl reportedly ran away from the Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corp. facility on Run Pond Road.
Five days later Yarmouth police issued a release regarding the disappearance of the two girls. One day later, on August 13, the girl who ran away with Michaela, 15-year-old Alyssa Whitney, turned herself into MBTA police. According to a release from Yarmouth police, Whitney offered no information about Michaela's location.
Another week has passed and Michaela has still not been found. Gulley contacted CapeCodToday.com in the hopes that the scant details about Michaela's last known sighting be shared with readers.
This week Gulley took to Facebook to ask anyone who has seen Michaela or knows where she may be to contact police. On her Facebook page, Michaela's grandmother asked Alyssa Whitney (or anyone with information) to share any details she may have about Michaela. "Please I am begging you to tell us if you know anything about her whereabouts," Gulley posted. "Her great grandmother is in her eighties and just wants to get her back safely as do all her family members."
A poster has been issued by Yarmouth and State Police via the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (see below or here). According to information included in the poster, Michaela was last seen wearing a black sweater, black leggings and a black bandana. She was seen in the area of the Forest Hill MBTA Station in Jamaica Plain. According to the poster, she may be in the company of an unknown Hispanic male, approximately 5'6" with a tribal tattoo on his neck.
Michaela is white with brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5'9", 240 lbs and only 15-years-old.
Anyone with information about Michaela's whereabouts is urged to call Yarmouth police at 508-775-0445.
