EAST NEW MARKET, Md. (WUSA9) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators have identified a person whose decomposed remains were found Monday in Dorchester County.
On Sunday shortly before noon, a 911 call was placed about a body found in a wooded area on Red Hill Road about one-quarter mile west of Linkwood Road, in East New Market. A person with a crop damage permit to hunt on the property came upon the remains in the woods not far from a soybean field, say state police.
Deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene and found the human remains in what appeared to be a shallow grave. Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators were then called to assume the investigation, with the assistance of sheriff's deputies and detectives.
Police have identified the body as 40-year-old Radames Guzman of Magnolia Delaware. Guzman was identified using fingerprints, the police said.
Preliminary investigation indicates Guzman may have been dead less than six months.
