Brian Webb, 65, of Montpelier will be remembered for his kindness, his professionalism and his musical talent, friends and coworkers said Wednesday.
Webb's body was believed to have been found Wednesday morning on the surface of Lake Champlain about half a mile off the shoreline of Malletts Bay, police said. The Colchester Police's Marine Unit discovered the body. Webb had been missing for four days.
The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington for official identification, and Colchester Police Cpl. Michael Akerlind said Webb's wife, Nancy Webb, had been notified. Akerlind said a driver's license found on the body identified the man as Brian Webb.
The body was spotted 800 to 1,000 feet away from Brian Webb's sailboat, the Hellen Louise, which was docked in Malletts Bay, Akerlind said. Nancy Webb has said her husband had his sailboat on Lake Champlain for about 30 years.
