Earthly body located; Bill Summers 78 - Council, Idaho

COUNCIL, Idaho -- A Council man has been found dead, nearly a week after he drove away from his home and disappeared, a family member confirmed Sunday.

Bill Summers was the brother-in-law of former U.S. Senator Larry Craig. Craig told KTVB that Summers was found by an Idaho Power line team late Sunday morning on a rural back road about 10 miles from Council. His body was reportedly found seat belted in to his pickup truck, which had crashed off the road. The men who found him said there was very little damage to the truck, Craig said.

The coroner will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Summers' wife called police Monday morning, prompting an all-out search of the Council, Cascade, New Meadows, and McCall areas for the missing 78-year-old.
