Circumstance: Author David Bird Thomson,was 32 when he disappeared. Originally from Minnesota, Dave was last seen standing by Highway 7 and Williston Rd in Minnetonka. He had a back pack and no other belongings. After he was last seen he worked very briefly in Denver CO and Casper WY in 1979. He has not been seen or heard from since. He wore a ying yang necklace and was between 5'8 – 5'11″ tall and weighed aprox 175-184 lbs. David has a scar on his right elbow and was in a car accident in 1964 resulting in a fracture in his growth bone of left shoulder, foreshortening his left arm, serious left leg fracture resulting in his leg being 3/8 of an inch shorter and a subsequent diagnosis of scoliosis.
David would be 65 years old in 2012. His family has never given up and continues to search for him. Prior to his disappearance he wrote a book titled "In the Shining Mountains", A Would-be Mountain Man in Search of Wilderness and was published by Alred A. Knopf, 1979, NYC. Those who have read David's book realized the "true nature of the man" behind his writings and one has to have hope that perhaps David's mysterious disappearance may be due to his own love of nature and wanting to live off our great land. The alternative is not one his family, nor his avid book fans, are willing to accept. Following David's disappearance, his sister, Emmy Thomson, finished writing and published another of his manuscripts, a fiction story titled "The Solar Kid."
