Earthly Body Located: Wilber Vannoy, 72 - New Jersey


The body of a 72-year-old man found in the Delaware River on May 30 has been identified as Hopewell Township resident Wilber Vannoy.

Mr. Vannoy had been reported missing on May 21. His death has been an accidental drowning.

The body had been spotted by a kayaker who called police at approximately 3 p.m. on May 30 near the Hamilton Township I-95 scenic overlook area.

Hopewell Township police, along with personnel from the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit, the New Jersey State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office responded to the area.

On Wednesday, June 4, the Mercer County Medical Examiner's Office was able to identify the deceased as Mr. Vannoy.
