Earthly Body Located: Carol Wood, 30 - New York (had been missing since August 4, 1996)

Officials have positively identified the human remains found in the Oswego River last week as those of Carol L. Wood, who was reported missing nearly 18 years ago.
The cause and manner of her death has not been determined at this time, a statement from the Oswego City Police Department and the Oswego County District Attorney's Office said.
The investigation is open and active, as it has been for 18 years.

Police ask that anyone with information about the investigation to contact the criminal investigation division, Capt. Charles Tonkin, at 342-8130 or Sgt. Damian Waters at 342-8266. People wishing to remain anonymous may call 342-8131 or email crimewatch@oswegony.org.

On June 12, a 1990's four-door Toyota Corolla LE was removed from the river. The car had human remains in it that were later identified by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office as Wood's.
Wood, 30, was last seen leaving Anthony's Bar & Grill on East Bridge Street in Oswego about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 4, 1996 where she had an argument with a man she had been dating, police said at the time.
She left the bar by herself and was last seen getting into a red, four-door 1993 Toyota Corolla.
