URGENT #MISSING: Traute E. Rankin, 74 - Leeburg, FLORIDA (Dementia - has heart condition - may need medical attention)

No leads have turned up in the search for a 74-year-old Leesburg woman who disappeared 10 days ago, police said today.
Traute E. Rankin, who may be suffering from early stages of dementia, was last seen sometime on April 27 at her residence at Silver Pointe Circle, according to Leesburg police Major Steve Rockefeller.
"Quite simply she has vanished," Rockefeller said in an update on the search. "Unfortunately, we still know little about a possible location other than she was last seen at the apartment complex a few days before she was reported missing."
Five Leesburg officers today have been joined by eight to 10 Lake County deputy sheriffs and three Fruitland Park officers.
"They surveyed the area around the complex and came up with a plan to search of the wooded area," Rockefeller said.
The effort also has included aerial searches utilizing the Lake Sheriff's Office helicopter. Over the weekend officers and detectives continued checking with family and friends on her possible whereabouts and distributed flyers in Orange County, where Rankin used to live.
Rankin doesn't have a vehicle and isn't familiar with the Leesburg area because she is a new resident, Rockefeller said.
She "speaks with a slight German accent, and is not wearing her dentures. She has a heart condition and may be suffering from the early stages of dementia," the police statement said. "Family members advised that she frequently walks to the Leesburg Walmart."

Anyone with information is urged to call Leesburg police at 352-787-2121.
