Minneapolis police are asking for the public's help in finding a 48-year-old man who is believed to be a danger to himself.
Jeffrey Viel last was seen at 4 a.m. Thursday on the 2700 block of James Avenue North in Minneapolis, police spokesman John Elder said.
Elder said Viel's phone was pinging in St. Paul on Friday night, but he said police do not have the exact address of where he could have been. His phone since has been shut off, he said.
Family members called police when Viel went missing, Elder said.
He said Viel's family is concerned that Viel may not be able to care for himself and that he may have been harmed since he went missing.
Viel is described as a light-skinned black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a slight build who is balding and unshaven. He last was seen wearing gray Nike sweatpants, a gray North Face jacket, tan boots and a black skull cap.
He last was seen driving a silver 2011 Chrysler 200 with Minnesota license plates 215 MDP.
Anyone with information is asked to text 847 411 and enter MPD and the tip or call the Minneapolis police tipline at 612-692-8477.
