Earthly Body Located: Kennedy Rios, 21 - New Jersey

Ventnor's search for missing Kennedy Rios, 21, of Ventnor ended this afternoon when his body was found in Ventnor's intercoastal waterway.  A crew coach found the body near the Viking Rowing Club on the 100-block of North Surrey Avenue where students from Mainland and Egg Harbor Township were practicing rowing.
Rios was found face down, fully clothed at 3:45 p.m. about 150 yards from land, according to Ventnor Police Chief Michael Miller. Positive identification was made at 6 p.m. The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
Kennedy Rios disappeared in the early morning hours Jan. 8, after leaving a poker party at his friend's house without his coat, hat, gloves and cell phone. The temperature at the time was 10 degrees, with a minus 4-degree wind chill factor. He was last seen on a video recording captured at the Carisbrooke Inn at the corner of Victoria and Ventnor avenues, about 10 blocks from his home. He was walking westbound on the 5400-block of Ventnor Avenue.
His family reported him missing at 5 p.m. the next day after he did not report to work as a houseman on the swing shift at Borgata.
Atlantic City Police K-9s tracked his scent from that location across the Dorset Avenue bridge into Ventnor Heights. The track ended at the bay at Ski Beach. Two marine searches in the days following his disappearance turned up nothing.
The family conducted a search of the neighborhood with friends and distributed posters throughout the city trying to find their loved one.
The case is being investigated by Detective Thomas Schallus of the Ventnor Police Department, New Jersey State Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
