Earthly Body Located: Adam Muhammad, 22 - North Carolina

An autopsy has determined a body found on Bald Head Island is a missing Southport man.
Southport Police Chief Jerry Dove says dental records confirmed the body is Adam Muhammad. The 22-year-old went missing in mid February. WWAY was first to report the discovery of the body Monday morning.
Earlier this morning Dove, whose department is handling the investigation, said a medical examiner confirmed during an autopsy yesterday in Greenville that the body was a black male. Dove said dental records led the ME to believe it was Muhammad, but there was still some uncertainty. Dove says Muhammad had not been to the dentist since 2005, so the medical examiner wanted to talk to the dentist who treated him about a wisdom tooth that may have come in since. The ME also took DNA and blood samples for comparison, Dove said.
It's still unclear how Muhammad died. Dove says there are no signs of trauma like gunshot or knife wounds. At this point the cause of death is listed as undetermined and pending, Dove said.
