The family of Moreira "Mo" Monsalve held a benefit in Waikiki to raise money for the investigation into her disappearance.
Monsalve's daughter, Alexis Felicilda, came to Oahu for the event Wednesday night. She last saw her mother Jan. 12, when Monsalve dropped her off at Kahului Airport.
Since then the family has put nearly everything else on hold to search for her.
"It's difficult. It's hard," said Felicilda. "But you know, we do have a lot of support. It kinda gets what needs to be done."
Organizers of the benefit event also said the search effort has drawn a lot of support and contributions. "Even if they can't give anything, we've had tons of e-mails, just flooded with support. Amazing," said Phil LeBlanc of All Access Entertainment. He is also a friend of Felicilda's and one of the event organizers.
Live performances were scheduled at the event by local acts Dread Ashanti, Da Push-o-Verse, live DJ's and special guests.
Le Blanc says the money raised will be used to help the family with search efforts. The family has been organizing searches on Saturdays.
Monsalve's friends and family have also handed out flyers on Maui. They also have set up a Facebook page, called 'Mowatch Missing Person Moreira Monsalve', to post updates and details on upcoming searches.
They're now trying to raise money to hire a private investigator and to support the family, especially Monsalve's high school-aged son, who had been living with her.
"We also have been working with a retired homicide detective with LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) because of the support and all the help," said Felicilda.
The family and Maui Police searched the Polipoli Recreation Area on Jan. 18. That search turned up no sign and no clues. A second search focused on lower Waiehu Beach Park.
Monsalve's purse and other items were later found in a dumpster.
Another search is planned for Saturday, weather permitting, Felicilda said.
Felicilda said anyone with information should contact Maui Police. She said her family won't rest until they know what happened.
"I want her home. Everyone wants her home," she said.
"I just want her home."
