Leon W. Young, 84, of the unit block of Michael Court in Southampton Township, was reported missing Monday afternoon and was not located as of early Tuesday, according to state police.
Young has Alzheimer's and wears a pacemaker, causing family members concern when police said he left his residence sometime between 1:40 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. and did not return. Young was last known to be driving a white 2000 Buick Century with Pennsylvania plates reading JCX2716, but police were not sure in what direction he was headed, according to a press release issued Tuesday.
Police have several theories as to where Young may be, he used to work in Carlisle and lived near Newville, so he may have returned to either of those locations, but he is also known to frequent several businesses in the Shippensburg area, the release states.
He also has some family in Union County, police added.
Young is believed to be in a confused state of mind, but he frequently visits the Walmart and Lowes stores in Shippensburg. He may also have gone to the Select Diner, Weis Markets or the Burger King or Wendy's restaurants in Shippensburg, according to police.
Young is described as a white male with white hair who stands about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs roughly 250 pounds. He wears glasses, uses a hearing aid and speaks very softly. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve dark blue button up shirt, dark blue trouserswhite sneakers and a light blue jacket. He is also believed to be wearing a silver watch and a gold wedding band, police said.
Anyone who comes into contact with Young or knows where is can be found should immediately call state police at 717-249-2121.
