#MISSING: Nathan Phillips, 17 - Aptos, CALIFORNIA (Bike found at Seacliff Beach)

A 17-year-old Aptos boy is missing, and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help.

Nathan Phillips was last seen four days ago, on Dec. 2, by his family.

"The last time Nate was seen, he said he was 'going on an adventure' and left on his bike with limited supplies," Deputy Ryan Kennedy said.

"Nate has never run away before," Kennedy said.

A search found the Aptos High School student's white bicycle at Seacliff Beach near the cement ship.

The bicycle was in good condition, indicating the teen had not been involved in an accident that would have injured him.

Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team deputies searched beaches in Capitola and Aptos on all-terrain vehicles, and a helicopter conducted an aerial search Friday.

Phillips' family was puzzled when he talked about going on an adventure, but it was not the kind of thing he'd usually say.

A Facebook group page called "Find Nathan 2013" had 1,000 likes as of Friday evening.

Phillips is 5'7" tall, weighs 124 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on Phillips' whereabouts should call the Sheriff's Office at 831-471-1121.
