#MISSING: Dale Brownlow, 52 - Helena, MONTANA (from Colorado - truck found parked at Hunter's Gulch trailhead since November 30)

The search for Dale Brownlow of Colorado continued north of Helena on Saturday.

Lewis & Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says that the search includes three helicopters, one contracted from Executive Air and two from Flathead County.

The helicopters arrived on Saturday morning and were able to start inserting search teams at 9 a.m. in the area about 30 miles north/northeast of Helena.

Approximately 10 to 14 teams are on the ground in various locations which crews were unable to reach on Thursday.

Brownlow is a 52-year-old wildlife biologist from Denver whose vehicle had been parked at the Hunter's Gulch trailhead for approximately 12 days.

(DECEMBER 13, 2013) Dale Brownlow, a 52-year old man from Colorado, has officially been listed as missing in an area north of Helena.

Search & Rescue crews searched both from the air and on the ground for Brownlow on Thursday, who was last seen in the Hunter's Gulch area on December 1st.

The search is taking place in rugged terrain with sightings of bears, mountain lions, and even wolves.

Brownlow's truck was found parked in the area, but has since been taken by detectives in the investigation.

"He does own firearms and they are missing from his vehicle," noted Lewis & Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton.

Brownlow was last seen in the area by some people on horseback; at the time he was wearing only a light jacket - and shortly after that, the sub-zero temperatures rolled in.

Temperatures in the area dipped as low as -20 below last week. That causes major concern for rescuers who know that hypothermia can set in quickly.

Indications are that Brownlow had several maps of the area, and was an avid camper. But because certain items were left behind, authorities believe he may not have planned to be out that long.

Sheriff Dutton said, "He had been living in Helena in a motel for a couple of months, we didn't know that until yesterday morning at 8:30, when the motel saw pictures on the news and said, 'That's the guy that's been living here and he left all of his stuff.' All of his equipment is there, which indicates to us the possibility that he didn't mean to stay out this long."

Four wheelers, search dogs, and hikers took to the surrounding roads and trails trying to find any sign of Brownlow.

Volunteers plan to go back into the area on Saturday to resume their search.

If you have seen Brownlow, or have any information that may help searchers, call the Lewis & Clark County Dispatch Office at 406-447-8293.
