Police are asking for help in the search for a 75-year-old woman who was last seen Friday on Four Seasons Drive in Albemarle County.
Virginia State Police issued a statewide senior alert Saturday morning as Albemarle County Sheriff's Office employees and volunteers continued searching for Evelyn Turner, who may suffer from dementia, police said.
Turner left the West Park Market in Charlottesville about 9 p.m. after asking a clerk for directions home and has not been seen since, according to a release. The search for Turner began Friday night and picked up again at 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Albemarle Sheriff Chip Harding.
The Sheriff's Office set up a command post in front of Albemarle High School and police brought in bloodhounds to aid in the search. Police warn that Turner's health may be in jeopardy as temperatures dip down into the 40s overnight.
Reverse 911 calls describing Turner and asking for help began in the Four Seasons area at 6:30 a.m. Saturday and continued in parts of the county into the afternoon.
Turner stands 5-foot, 1inch tall and weighs about 140 pounds, according to the release. She was last seen wearing a brown coat and a dark hat.
Anyone with information about Turner's location is asked to call county police at 296-5807 or dial 911.
