Police are searching for an elderly Hayward man who disappeared from his home Thursday afternoon.
Authorities say 77-year-old Edward Moore went missing about 4:30 p.m. from his house in the 500 block of Sequoia Road, and that the man has never walked away unattended before. Moore takes medication for both dementia and diabetes, and becomes out of breath from walking for too long.
Authorities believe it is possible Moore may head to East Oakland, where he used to live. The man may have been spotted at the downtown Hayward BART station, but police have been unable to confirm that sighting.
Moore is a black male with a medium complexion, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He has gray hair and brown eyes, and has a tattoo on his left forearm. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, camouflage shorts and sandals with white socks.
Anyone with information about Moore's whereabouts is asked to contact Hayward police at 510-293-7000, or to call 911.
