GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Police say surveillance cameras captured a woman using the Bridge Card of a missing person.
Maxine Green, 62, was last seen Aug. 23. The sister of famed singer Al Green has some mental health issues and had been living at the Shepherds of Independence home on the northwest side of Grand Rapids.
"This is quite a while for anybody to be gone. She is absent any resources. She is absent family. This is pretty unusual," Grand Rapids Police Department Lt. Pat Merrill said Wednesday. "We have been looking for her. We haven't had a whole lot of luck in finding her."
Police say surveillance video shows an unknown woman using Green's Bridge Card to buy food at The Big Top Supermarket in Wyoming.
"We knew that her card had been reloaded with money and we expected to see some action on it," Merrill said. "Once we saw activity on the account, we go to the place where the account is used and say, 'Let's pull the video and see if this is Maxine or not.' And sure enough, it was not her."
Merrill said that Green's close friends and family couldn't identify the woman in the video.
"We're trying to figure out who person is that used her card. We don't know if it was with her consent, without her consent, but we're trying to identify this individual so we can speak to them," Merrill said.
Police want to know if the woman has information about Green's whereabouts. They asked that she come forward.
Anyone with information about Green or the woman in the surveillance video is asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
