Police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing person with mental health issues, authorities said.
Richard John Aflleje, 68, who suffers from Alzheimer's, was last seen at his home Wednesday morning at about 12:30 a.m., and was discovered missing around 5:49 a.m. by family members.
Police believe Aflleje walked away from his home, located in the area of 53rd Street and Olive Avenue.
Aflleje was last seen wearing a yellow Lakers shirt and black Dickies. He is described as a Pacific Islander with black hair and brown eyes, about 5'6" and weighing about 130 pounds. His left arm also has an implanted heplock, or port, that is used to administer medicine.
Local hospitals have been alerted, and area law enforcement and public transportation agencies have been notified.
Anyone who sees Aflleje or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Long Beach Police Department at 562-435-6711 or 911.
