POLICE: Missing ESCU Student From Roper Drowning Victim

Authorities say a missing Elizabeth City State University student was the victim of a drowning.
The university says the body of 22-year-old Terry Leathers II was found Tuesday morning in a canal. An autopsy done today in Greenville confirmed the identify of the body as well as the cause of death.
The Roper man was reported missing late last week by ECSU.
University police say no foul play is suspected in Leathers' disappearance or his death.

The Medical Examiner says they have the body of Terry Leathers II, a student at Elizabeth City State University who was from Roper.
A Coast Guard search of a canal by Pelican Point Tuesday recovered a body, and law enforcement said belongings of Leathers were found nearby.
No cause of death for Leathers has been determined. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Police in Elizabeth City said Leathers was last seen Thursday.

This weekend authorities asked for the public's help in locating 22-year-old Terry Leathers II of Roper. He was last seen around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
University police say they were notified around 10:30 a.m. this morning that some of Leathers' personal items were found near a canal by Pelican Point.
The U.S. Coast Guard searched the canal and found a body some 60 feet from where the personal items were discovered.
Police say an autopsy will be performed to determine how the man died and to confirm his identity.

Police with one university in the east are asking for your help locating a missing student.
Officials with Elizabeth City State University say that 22-year-old Terry Leathers II was last seen around 7 p.m. on September 26th.
Leathers has brown eyes, dark hair, and weighs 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark blue or black shirt, light color jeans and was carrying a black and gray backpack.
