The search continued Saturday for a 79-year-old Serra Mesa woman who disappeared after leaving her home earlier this week, police said.
Mehria Mansury was last seen Tuesday morning at her home in the 2800 block of Amulet Street, above a canyon north of Mission Valley, according to San Diego police. Mansury was described as a 5-foot-1-inch, roughly 140-pound Afghan woman with brown hair and brown eyes.
Authorities on Saturday are searching the neighborhoods in Serra Mesa near Mansury's home. Police officers and search teams with dogs began combing hillsides around Qualcomm Stadium on Friday in hopes of finding her. A command post remained in the stadium's parking lot Saturday, although the search may have included other areas, police said.
Family members of Mansury told 10News they are concerned about her whereabouts. According to her nephew, Ali Rassoul, it is unlike her to just disappear.
"She was very sharp," Rassoul told 10News. "She was 79 years old, but she would not leave home without her purse, without her keys, without her wallet or cell phone for that matter … Most of all without her glasses."
Mansury's niece, Homaira Rassoul, told 10News her beloved dog was also found in the house.
"I don't know what to think," said Homaira Rassoul. "Right now, we are standing here and God knows where she is, is she in a ditch?"
Family members said they fear her daughter may be involved.
"She, unfortunately, has a daughter that lived in the garage with a bunch of junk heads," said Ali Rassoul.
Denise Lattizzori, who lives on Amulet Street, told 10News, "It looked like the daughter was trying to convince Mehri about something and Mehri was arguing with her."
Mansury's nephew, Khaled Salihie, said, "I'm not sure what her connection is to this situation, but it seems she was hiding stuff."
10News was there on Thursday as an investigator combed through the Mansury's home searching for and collecting evidence.
The family told 10News they fear the worst. They said Mansury's daughter and her daughter's boyfriend are being questioned by investigators.
Ali Rassoul said they want her home.
"We hope for the best, that's all we can say," he said.
San Diego police Lt. Kevin Mayer said the case is still considered a missing person case.
"We're classifying her as an at-risk person because of her age and physical condition," Mayer said.
Police asked anyone with information on the Mansury's possible whereabouts to call them at (619) 531-2293, or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
