Police are asking for the public's help to locate a missing teen with the mental capacity of a 9-year-old.
Nicole Crowder was last seen in the company of an unknown man and woman on Daytona Beach at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Crowder, 17, was on the beach near the Econo Lodge at 1601 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach with her adult sister, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
Crowder lives in St. Louis, Missouri and was in Florida to visit her mother in Windermere. She is reported to be very naïve, acts childish and is easily influenced by peers. Nicole takes several medications for bi-polar disorder and ADHD but she does not have the medications with her.
According to police, she was last seen in the company of an unknown man and woman. The man is approximately 30 years old, bald, has a medium build and gold teeth. The female has a dark complexion, appears to be in her late teens and was wearing a black bathing suit. Crowder is not from the area and has no known friends locally.
Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue was notified by Crowder's sister at about 8:45 p.m. that the girl had been missing for a few hours. The beach area was searched and local hotels, businesses and area hospitals were checked.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse was then notified and an alert has been issued. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is assisting in this case.
Crowder is 5'3" tall, 185 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black and white one piece bathing suit.
