Body of Danielle Jelinek reportedly found in Chisago Township
The body of Danielle Jelinek, missing since December, has reportedly been found.
Law enforcement officers were gathered near a small body of water off 261st Street and Kodiak Avenue in Chisago Township on Friday, May 10.
Jelinek's father, Ed Jelinek, arrived at the scene about 7:30 p.m., and Chisago County Sheriff Rick Duncan escorted him into a trailer.
Earlier, a stretcher was seen being carried from the water.
The sheriff's office has not confimed that a body was found, but a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said the sheriff's office requested the bureau's assistance.
Nearby on 261st Street is the home where Jelinek spent the night of Dec. 9 with Aaron Schnagl, with whom her family members said she had an on-again, off-again relationship.
Her family reported her missing Dec. 10, and her purse, cellphone, shoes, car and other belongings were found at Schnagl's home.
"She's never been known not to call her mom every day. That's how we knew something was wrong," Ed Jelinek, said days later.
Jelinek, who was 27 when she disappeared, was a graduate of Park High School in Cottage Grove and lived with her sister in Oakdale.
Schnagl has been considered a person of interest in the case but has not been charged with a crime.
A series of search warrants issued the day after she disappeared revealed trace evidence of blood in Schnagl's home. They also include allegations by a family member of Jelinek's that Schnagl physically abused her, though she never reported it.
According to the search warrants, Schnagl told officers he spent that Saturday evening with Jelinek, and they went back to his home, had numerous drinks and went to bed. But when he woke up at 9:30 a.m. she was gone, Schnagl told investigators.
The court documents noted that Schnagl changed some details in his statement, and when a deputy pointed out that Jelinek's belongings were still at his home, he asked for an attorney and refused to speak

further. Laboratory analysis conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension concluded there was evidence of blood on the floor of Schnagl's master bedroom, on the stairway to his second floor and on a family room couch cushion. In addition to finding roughly 13 pounds of marijuana in Schnagl's car, a sheriff's investigator found "two reddish stains in the rear cargo area" of Schnagl's 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe.
After the marijuana was found, Schnagl was jailed for violating his parole; in 2007, he pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony drug possession charge. His urine tested positive for cocaine, the warrants added.
