Police are investigating the case of a missing mentally handicapped woman who was last seen at her Town of Newburgh home between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 29.
►Sharon Simpkins, 43, has a mental capacity of about a 10 to 13-year-old, according to her sister.
►The family moved into the area in July and lives on Peach Terrace. She has no friends or family nearby, does not know her home address or phone number, has no cell phone or money.
►Ms. Simpkins is black, five feet, two inches tall, 170 pounds, with brown eyes, and long black dreadlocks. She was last seen wearing a purple jacket and possibly a blue bandana in her hair.
According to her sister, the missing woman has done this before, but usually comes home after a couple of hours. The last time this occurred, she was found at midnight by a trucker at the Pilot Truck Stops on Route 17K in the Town of Newburgh.
Anyone with information is asked to call Newburgh Town Police at 845-564-1100.
